Plan on a 24-hour turnaround time with all snowboard and ski services.
Skis and snowboards need tunings throughout their life to ensure they feel good and you get the most out of them. If your skis are not gliding on the snow, gripping, or initiating turns as easily, you may have waited too long for a tune.

Take a look at the following to see if your skis or snowboard need some service.

  • Evaluate the base. Take a look at the underside of your snowboard or skis. Are there any scratches or gashes? Is the core shot? Is a scratch or gash revealing the wood core underneath? Are burs poking up from any scratches? Is snow sticking to the bottom more than usual? Does the base look shiny or dried out? These are all signs your gear could use a wax.
  • Assess the edges. Evaluate the edges of your skis or snowboard to ensure they’re relatively sharp. Gently slide your fingers along the edges to determine if the metal is dull. If it is dull, this is a sign your gear needs tuning.

Yes, if your tuning needs are time-sensitive. Please call us at 801-210-6343 to set up an appointment for all of our ski and snowboard shop services and guaranteed quick turnaround time. Walk-ins are also welcome!
Yes! Ski equipment should be tuned to keep it performing at its best. In addition to enhancing performance, tuning also extends your gear’s lifespan. Ski and snowboard tuning makes you a better skier or snowboarder because it can help with more precise turns. Moreover, tuning service can improve your safety and prevent leg injuries.
Tuning services at Ski Trucks are recommended as-needed. Factors such as snow conditions, how you ski, and how often you ski will determine how often you need to tune your skis. Expert skiers who regularly ride rugged terrain will need more frequent ski repair and tuning. Additionally, skiing on hard-packed ice or icy snow requires more frequent maintenance than skiing on powdery snow.
